Volunteer Training

A comprehensive guide for onboarding volunteers to our voter outreach apps. Use this as a self-service reference, video script, or live training guide.

Overview

This training covers both applications:

  1. SRP Canvass Mobile App - For canvassers doing door-to-door outreach
  2. Admin Dashboard - For team leads managing the campaign

Part 1: Getting Started

Section titled “Part 1: Getting Started”

Account Creation

Section titled “Account Creation”
  1. Download the app from energyfreedom.team/app
  2. Create an account using email, Google, or Apple Sign-In
  3. Wait for admin approval (typically within 24 hours)
  4. You’ll receive a push notification when approved

Understanding Your Role

RoleWhat You Can Do
CanvasserView assigned voters, record results, use neighborhood mode
Team LeadAll canvasser abilities + view all voters + progress reports
AdminFull access including user management and cut lists

Part 2: Mobile App Training

The Voters Tab

Section titled “The Voters Tab”

Your primary workspace for viewing and managing voters:

  • List View - Scroll through voters alphabetically
  • Map View - See voters geographically
  • Search - Find voters by name or address
  • Filters - Narrow by party, contact status, etc.

Recording Contact Results

Section titled “Recording Contact Results”

When you contact a voter:

  1. Tap on their name to open details
  2. Tap Record Result
  3. Select the appropriate result:
CategoryResults
PositiveSupportive, Strong Support, Leaning, Volunteer, Sign Request
NeutralUndecided, Needs Info, Callback
NegativeOpposed, Strongly Opposed, Do Not Contact
Not HomeNot Home, Wrong Address, Moved
  1. Add optional notes
  2. Save

Neighborhood Mode

Section titled “Neighborhood Mode”

Perfect for walk-up canvassing:

  1. Tap the location button on the map
  2. Walk through any neighborhood
  3. Get automatic alerts when near a voter (within 40 meters)
  4. Use quick action buttons: Support, Oppose, or Not Home

Part 3: Admin Dashboard Training

Approving Users

Section titled “Approving Users”
  1. Go to Team → Pending
  2. Review each pending user
  3. Click to approve or reject

Creating Cut Lists

Section titled “Creating Cut Lists”
  1. Go to Cut Lists → New
  2. Draw a polygon on the map
  3. Apply optional filters (party, contact status, etc.)
  4. Save and assign to canvassers

Viewing Progress

The Analytics section shows:

  • Total voters contacted
  • Support rates over time
  • Team member activity
  • Geographic heatmaps

  • 🟡 Yellow - Undecided (follow up)
  • 🔴 Red - Opposed
