Invite Codes
What are Invite Codes?
Section titled “What are Invite Codes?”Invite codes provide a fast way to onboard new canvassers without manual admin approval. When someone signs up using your invite code, they’re automatically approved and ready to start immediately.

Invite Types: Canvass vs. CET
Section titled “Invite Types: Canvass vs. CET”There are two types of invite codes for our two different apps:
Canvass Invites (Full Access)
Section titled “Canvass Invites (Full Access)”For the full SRP Canvass app with complete voter data and canvassing tools.
- Full voter database access
- Neighborhood mode, walking routes, detailed voter info
- Shared via QR code or link
- Who can create: Admins only
CET Invites (Simplified)
Section titled “CET Invites (Simplified)”For the Clean Energy Team (CEF) app - a simplified contact-based outreach tool.
- Contact-based outreach (uses phone contacts)
- Simpler interface for casual volunteers
- Shared via code only (no QR/URL needed)
- Who can create: Anyone (Canvassers, Team Leads, Admins)
Creating Invite Codes
Section titled “Creating Invite Codes”Team Leads and Admins can create invite codes:
- Open the app and go to Settings
- Tap “Invite Codes” (or access via Admin Dashboard)
- Tap “Create Invite”
- Configure the invite:
- Select which districts to grant access to
- Optionally assign a specific cut list
- Set maximum number of uses (1-1000)
- Set an expiration date (optional)
- Tap “Create” to generate the code
Sharing Invites
Section titled “Sharing Invites”How you share an invite depends on the type:
Canvass Invites (QR Code + Link)
Section titled “Canvass Invites (QR Code + Link)”Show QR Code
Section titled “Show QR Code”Tap the QR code icon to display a large, scannable QR code. Perfect for:
- In-person events and meetups
- Printed flyers and handouts
- Presentations and training sessions
Copy Link
Section titled “Copy Link”Tap “Link” to copy the invite URL to your clipboard. Share via:
- Text message or email
- Social media posts
- Campaign newsletters
CET Invites (Code Only)
Section titled “CET Invites (Code Only)”Copy Code
Section titled “Copy Code”Tap “Code” to copy the invite code to your clipboard. CET users enter this code directly in the CEF app - no QR code or link needed.
Tell them: “Download the Clean Energy Friends app and enter code ABC123 when prompted.”
How New Volunteers Sign Up
Section titled “How New Volunteers Sign Up”- Scan the QR code or tap the invite link
- Create an account with email, Google, or Apple
- Download the app if they haven’t already
- Start canvassing - they’re automatically approved!
Managing Invites
Section titled “Managing Invites”Viewing Usage
Section titled “Viewing Usage”Each invite shows how many times it’s been used. Tap an invite to see details about who signed up with it.
Disabling Invites
Section titled “Disabling Invites”You can disable an invite at any time without deleting it. Disabled invites won’t work for new signups but preserve the usage history.
Deleting Invites
Section titled “Deleting Invites”Delete invites you no longer need. Users who already signed up keep their accounts.
Best Practices
Section titled “Best Practices”Event-Specific Codes
Section titled “Event-Specific Codes”Create separate invite codes for different events or recruitment drives. This helps you track which events bring in the most volunteers.
Limited Uses
Section titled “Limited Uses”For smaller events, set a reasonable maximum (like 20-50 uses) to prevent codes from being shared too widely.
Expiration Dates
Section titled “Expiration Dates”Set expiration dates for time-sensitive campaigns. Expired codes automatically stop working.
