Neighborhood Mode

Neighborhood Mode is designed for spontaneous door-to-door canvassing. Instead of following a pre-planned walking list, you simply walk through a neighborhood and the app automatically notifies you when you’re near a voter’s address.

  • Walking your own neighborhood
  • Exploring new areas without a plan
  • Quick door-knocking sessions
  • Following up with nearby voters after an event
  1. Start Neighborhood Mode - Tap the location button on the map screen
  2. Walk normally - The app uses GPS to track your location
  3. Get notified - When you’re within 40 meters of a voter, a card pops up
  4. Record quickly - Use quick action buttons without opening the full detail screen
  5. Keep walking - The card dismisses and you continue to the next voter

When you approach a voter’s address, a floating card appears showing:

  • Voter name and distance
  • Address
  • Quick details - Party affiliation, acres
ButtonRecords
Support (green)Voter supports our candidate
Oppose (red)Voter opposes our candidate
Not Home (gray)No one answered the door

Tap More Options to open the full voter detail screen for additional result types.

To prevent false triggers from GPS drift, the app requires 2 consecutive readings within the arrival radius before showing a voter card. This means you need to actually be near the address, not just briefly pass through due to GPS inaccuracy.

While in Neighborhood Mode, the header shows:

  • Nearby voters - Count of voters within 500m
  • Completed - Voters you’ve recorded this session
  • Session time - How long you’ve been canvassing

The app automatically loads voters within a 500-meter radius of your location. As you walk and move beyond this area, new voters are loaded automatically - no need to restart the session.

Neighborhood Mode uses continuous GPS tracking, which can drain battery. To conserve power:

  • Pause - Tap pause when taking a break
  • End session - End the session when done canvassing

Neighborhood Mode works offline using cached voter data. Your results are saved locally and sync when you’re back online.

All contacts recorded in Neighborhood Mode are logged to the contact history with the note “Neighborhood Mode” so admins can track activity from this feature.
